🎲 Monthly Gamebook Adventures on Substack!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Aug 20, 2021 at 02:38:56 PM

Hi there,

I hope you're well.

A Branching Narrative on Substack

As a previous backer of a Blue Fox Gamebook, I'm letting you know that I'm starting a Substack entitled A Branching Narrative.

Why Substack?

I've been thinking about creating an interactive-fiction based Patreon for a while, but the interface has struck me as a little confusing, and recently Substack has come to my attention, and, after looking into it, I think it works better for me.

What is 'A Branching Narrative'?

Every month I will be creating a new 125+ paragraph adventure for you to enjoy, with rules similar, but not restricted by, the rules in place for my other gamebooks.

Substack allows subscribers to have a free plan and a paid for plan.

  • Everyone on the free plan will receive the first room on the monthly adventure (25+ paragraphs), plus they will receive an overview post on the why and how of creating the adventure
  • Everyone who chooses the paid-for plan will receive the full adventure (125+ paragraphs), plus they will receive an in-depth post on the why and how of creating the adventure
  • There is also a founding member option, who will receive 1 extra adventure (125+ paragraphs) per year

The paid-for plan is $7 a month, or $70 per year.

Some of you may have heard some negative news about Substack recently. I looked into it (I don't want to approach anything on the internet lightly) and was eventually swayed by James Tynion IV's post. You can read it here.

Opening Offer

We are running an opening offer of 20% off all subscriptions until the 9th September. To access the offer click the button below.

My initial post is up on the site - to take a look, click the URL below.
If you know people who might be interested, I'd really appreciate a social-share.

What sort of adventures?

I'll be creating a whole load of one-off adventures in multiple genres including fantasy, sci-fi and horror (with some familiar settings...).

When will they post?

The first adventure will post on Friday September 10th 2021, and is called 'The Watchtower'.

I hope this sounds interesting to you - please let me know your thoughts and questions so I can better prepare everyone for 'A Branching Narrative'.

Innsmouth: The Stolen Child
almost 3 years ago – Fri, Jul 09, 2021 at 05:47:47 PM

Hi,

I hope you're keeping well.

I wanted to let you know about an upcoming campaign for our next interactive fiction (choose your own adventure) gamebook - Innsmouth: The Stolen Child.

Cover Art by RHStewart

Taking place in 1912 in the town made famous by Lovecraft, you play the part of a private investigator who has to infiltrate shadowed Innsmouth, locate a kidnapped child and safely escape with them. But keep a low profile, the more people notice you, the less likely a favourable outcome!

With 600 sections and 20+ full page images, this is not to be missed - plus - get yourself drawn into the book as an Innsmouth resident!

Art by Willi Roberts

The Kickstarter launches in the next few weeks, and if it's something you might be interested in, click the image above or the link below and select 'Notify me on launch'.

Coming soon! A new sinister gamebook by Simon Birks of Blue Fox Comics!

The time: 1912

The place: Innsmouth, Mass

The job: Rescue a kidnapped child from The Gilman House hotel in the heart of shadowed Innsmouth, with nothing but your wits, a gun, and anything you might find lying around the place! But be careful not to become too conspicuous - they're not a friendly bunch.

The reward: Money, of course - you ain't doing it for the love!
